Symbol introduces the P300FZY decoded industrial handheld scanner with enhanced second-generation fuzzy logic. In addition to great performance on high-quality 1-D bar codes, it offers an unsurpassed ability to quickly and accurately read damaged, dirty and poorly printed bar codes that are commonly found in rugged industrial environments.

Designed for Extreme Environments (XE)

The P300FZY meets the most stringent industrial standards, earning the Symbol XE class label. It is sealed to the IP54 specification against windblown dust and rain, and withstands multiple 6-ft./1.8 m drops to concrete over the entire temperature range of -22° to 122°F/-30° to 50°C.

Its XE class ruggedness and high-throughput scanning ability make the P300FZY an ideal choice for a wide range of 1-D applications in industrial environments such as distribution centers, manufacturing floors and warehouses.

Innovative Design Features

As innovative as it is rugged, the P300FZY delivers the sophisticated ergonomic and operational features industrial applications demand. The scanner's exit window is scratch-resistant and recessed to prevent damage from direct contact. A twist-to-lock cable seals the scanner and provides superior strain relief. For those applications requiring quick access and out-of-the-way storage, the P300FZY comes with a built-in metal hook for attachment to a pulley. And the large, LED-enhancing window and extra loud 75 dB twin beepers make the "good decode" feedback impossible to miss. The P300FZY also utilizes the award-winning Phaser "handle-forward" design making the scanner extremely comfortable to hold and reduces fatigue when scanning throughout a full shift in scan-intensive applications.

High-Productivity Scanning

Building on Symbol's experience and leadership in the industrial handheld scanner market, the P300FZY offers numerous hardware and software improvements that deliver better performance and more durability than ever. The enhanced digital fuzzy logic processing resides on the single Integrated Multibit Processor ASIC with a digital signal processor. This results in a noticeable improvement in decode speed, increased working range, and the ability to read bar codes that are damaged or poorly printed. The high-visibility 650 nm laser makes it faster and easier to aim the scanner and read bar codes in sunlight and bright ambient light. These improvements combine to provide reliable high-throughput scanning, maximizing user productivity.

Easy System Integration

The P300FZY has four on-board interfaces for quick and inexpensive direct connectivity to the widest variety of host systems. These interfaces include RS-232, keyboard wedge, Wand interfaces and all popular host terminals through the use of Symbol's Synapse "smart" cables, including those using USB ports. Synapse "smart" cables provide the flexibility to connect to many different host types and eliminate the need for separate scanner-to-host controllers. In addition, the P300FZY has built-in Advanced Data Formatting (ADF), giving you the ability to modify the bar code data string before sending it to the host. This feature virtually eliminates formatting-driven application modifications, making the introduction of the P300FZY into a pre-existing application almost effortless.
