The
Magellan® 9500 provides retailers with the highest
performing scanner/scale available for large volume
point-of-sale applications combined with Sensormatic®
ScanMax™ Pro electronic article surveillance equipment*
in one convenient, highly effective system.
*Sensormatic® equipment ordered
separately from Sensormatic Corp.
The Scanner/Scale
The Magellan® 9500 uses PSC's innovative SurroundScan®
technology to aggressively scan all 6 sides of an item
simultaneously. The Magellan® 9500 also incorporates
FirstStrike™, PSC's most advanced decoding software for
difficult to read bar codes.
With an integrated scale and the patented All-Weighs™
scale platter the 9500 provides retailers with a fast
and accurate means of weighing variable weight items and
reducing produce shrink at the POS.
To
keep the Magellan® 9500 current for years to come it is
equipped with flash ROM that can easily update the
scanners operating software.
The
Magellan® 9500 features optional productivity
enhancement software to collect data on difficult to
read bar codes that slow down the checkout process and a
software tool that is designed to teach cashiers faster,
more ergonomic scanning techniques.
The Electronic Article Surveillance
System
With leading edge innovation the Magellan® 9500 was
designed in cooperation with Sensormatic® to integrate
the latest technology in EAS tag deactivation. The
ScanMax™ Pro IS antenna is cleverly integrated below the
scale platter. This provides for one step scanning and
deactivation to minimize the occurance of Failure To
Deactivate (FTD) events originating at the POS.
The
Magellan® 9500 and ScanMax™ Pro controller are linked
via a sophisticated RS-232 link. The scanner has front
mounted controls and indicators that inform the cashier
of the entire scanning and deactivation process.
Integrated repair diagnostic information leads
technicians to the failed subsystems within the scanner
or deactivation system with ease.
The Bottom Line
Retailers no longer have to
accept high levels of FTD's caused by adding on EAS
equipment far downstream from the scanning process or
the simplistic, low level integration offered by other
scanner manufacturers.
