MC80/MC128
Programmable Keyboards

Specifications

MC Series POS

Keyboard Family

The universal modular construction of these compact keyboards permits easy adaption to specific system requirements.  A magnetic card reader, chip card reader, keylock, barcode decoder and LC Display can be added in any combination.  The ergonomic design provides a user friendly interface.

All configurable key positions can be populated with your choice of single, double, triple or quad size or blank tile keys that disable a position.

The key positions are programmed either "online" by a standard keyboard, or via the Preh Programmer software.  In both cases the keycodes are stored in the EEPROM and can be erased and rewritten as often as desired.

The keyboards are compatible with all common operating systems including; DOS, Windows, Unix and OS/2.

Various system interfaces are supported.  The keyboard is equipped with an 8 PIN miniDIN connector which allows use of the appropriate interface cable directly from the outside of the keyboard.

These standard keyboards are designed for the IBM synchronous PC and PS/2 data format.  Additional interfaces, such as RS232 C, RS 485 and RS422 are also available. Both MC80 and MC128 come equipped with a 6 pin "daisy chain" socket which can be used to connect an additional standard keyboard.

Available Options:

Magnetic Stripe Reader (MSR)
The standard MSR is a bi-directional, double track reader (tracks 1 and 2).  A three track reader as well as tracks 2-3 reader is also available. The MSR reads all magnetic cards in accordance with ISO 7810 and 7811.

SmardCard Reader
A SmartCard or chip card Reader is available for reading and writing can be integrated in either model.  Check with Preh for a list of supported standards.

LC-Display (MC-25 only)
The liquid crystal display is integrated in the housing and runs in the yellow-green mode.  The backlit display is available in a 2x16 character configuration.  The display is driven by software drivers supplied by Preh.

Daisy-Chain Connection
The MC 25 and MC 35 are equipped with 6 pin mini-DIN connections to allow the connection of an additional standard keyboard, or other MC Series Keyboards from Preh.

Programming "Online Programming" In the online programming mode, the keyboard is programmed with another keyboard (101, etc.) connected to the daisy-chain socket.  In this mode each key can be programmed up to eight levels.  The desired key assignments are stored directly in the internal EEPROM.  When operating the keyboard no additional software (TSR) is required.
Programming via the "Preh Programmer" With the Preh Programmer software the programming of the keyboardis done over the keyboard interface (DOS).  The programming mode supports uploading and downloading functions and the various key assignments can be made available, edited and copied to a file.  The programmer allows programming on up to 128 levels.
